Bag Tag is an airport-guessing game. There are no accounts, no logins, and no servers of ours involved — the game runs entirely on your device. The only information saved is your local game stats (streak, scores, results), stored privately in Apple's standard on-device storage and never sent anywhere. The only outside connection the app makes is to Apple's own map servers, to load the satellite imagery you play on. We don't collect, sell, or share your data, because we don't have any way to receive it in the first place.
Bag Tag is an airport-code guessing game for iOS, where players guess the location of a U.S. airport from its 3-4 letter code by tapping a satellite map. It's built and maintained by Seth Young.
We don't collect any information. There's no account system, no sign-in, and no backend server for Bag Tag to send data to — the entire game runs locally on your device.
To make daily streaks and scores work, Bag Tag saves the following directly on your device (using Apple's standard UserDefaults local storage — the same on-device mechanism apps use for basic settings):
This information never leaves your device. We don't have servers, so there's nothing for it to sync to, and no version of it exists anywhere but your phone.
We do not collect, and have no mechanism to collect:
Since nothing is sent to us, there's nothing for us to use. The data described in Section 2.1 exists solely to let the app itself function — showing your streak, letting you review today's result, and calculating your score. It's used by the app, on your device, for you.
We do NOT:
Bag Tag uses Apple's MapKit framework to display satellite map imagery. When you view the map, your device requests map tiles directly from Apple's servers — this is standard behavior for any app that displays a map, and it happens the same way it would in Apple Maps itself. We don't operate these servers and don't receive any data from this exchange. It's governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
Bag Tag does not use Location Services and does not request your current location — the map starts centered on the continental U.S. by default, not on you.
Bag Tag does not integrate Google Analytics, Firebase, ad networks, or any other third-party tracking or data-collection SDK. If that ever changes in a future update, this policy will be updated first, and we'll say so plainly here rather than quietly.
All game data is stored locally on your device using Apple's standard UserDefaults storage, sandboxed to the app the same way as any other iOS app's local data. It's protected by whatever device-level security you already have set up (passcode, Face ID, device encryption). We have no servers, so there's no remote database of your information to be breached, leaked, or subpoenaed — because it doesn't exist.
Because everything is stored only on your device:
Bag Tag does not collect, process, or store any personal data on our servers, because we don't operate any. The data described in Section 2.1 stays entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us. As a result, most GDPR data-subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) don't have anything to act on from our side — but if you have any question about this, you're welcome to contact us (Section 12) and we'll explain plainly what we do and don't have.
We do not collect, sell, or share personal information as defined under the CCPA. There is no "opt-out of sale" mechanism because no sale — or collection — occurs in the first place.
Bag Tag doesn't collect personal information from anyone, of any age, since there's no account system or data collection at all. The app is suitable for a general audience. If you have any concerns about a child's use of the app, you're welcome to contact us.
Bag Tag is a native iOS app, not a website, and does not use cookies. The on-device storage described in Section 2.1 is not a cookie and cannot be accessed by other apps or websites.
All data is retained locally on your device for as long as you keep the app installed, and is deleted automatically and completely when you uninstall it. We do not retain any copy anywhere else, because none is ever created.
Since we don't collect or store any personal data on our own servers, there's no transfer of your personal data by us across any borders. The only outside network connection the app makes is to Apple's MapKit servers for map imagery (Section 4.1), which is subject to Apple's own data practices, not ours.
